Saving Throes # 126 - Spotlight: A Gaggle of Starter Sets for 2025
Welcome to the Saving Throes podcast! This is my Tabletop role-playing game podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a topic or theme along with my take on current happenings in the world of tabletop role-playing games and semi regular updates on the games I am currently involved with, or new games or products I have come across.
It just occurred to me the other day that in the past couple of months, I have got my hands on several brand new TTRPG starter sets that are all pretty great in their own right. It's like 2025 is the year of the Starter set or something. So I decided to round them all up and shine a light on them and why you might want to give one of them a shot. This includes a brief look at the Castles and Crusades starter set, the One Ring and Lord of the Rings Roleplaying (5e) starter sets, both titled "Over Hill and Under Hill", and lastly, the new D&D 5e Revised starter set, featuring the newest rendition of one of my all time favourite scenarios: Keep on the Borderlands. Tune in to find out if any of these sets is for you.
