Pining for Pixels # 116 - Donkey Kong Bananza Extravaganza!
Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!
This is not the episode I planned on recording this week. I had something else entirely all set and ready to go, but then this past weekend, I played Donkey Kong Bananza and it took over my gaming world! I had to talk about it. I don't typically do reviews on this show, and this is not necessarily a review, but instead I am talking about this new DK game and how blown away I am by it. It really feels like this came from out of nowhere and shattered any expectations I would have had for it. I also go over my experience and relationship with Donkey Kong games throughout my gaming life, from the arcade original to the Donkey Kong Country series and some of the titles in-between. Tune in to hear why I think Donkey Kong Bananza has created a wholly new sub-genre of platformers, and is an unexpected milestone achievement.
