Pining for Pixels # 94 - The Top 100: #97 - Star Fox

Red Rooster

Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!

It's time for another entry in the top 100 as we slowly but surely count down the top 100 video games of all time. Star Fox was a game that you might find difficult to get into, but it was partially a case of "you had to be there". In the time that Star Fox was released, we had never seen anything that advanced looking on the SNES, nor any console before. Seeing was believing though, and the game, in true Nintendo fashion, was a well designed and tight playing rail shooter filled with personality and good replay value. So although today it isn't visually impressive, the gameplay is still as good as ever and worth your time, regardless of your experience with the franchise. Just as good was the next title in this franchise, Star Fox 64, but it all started with the SNES original. Tune in to hear what makes this game (and 64) rise up so high, and marvel why Nintendo has not been able to replicate this franchise's success since those 2 games.
