Welcome to Vecna month on the Saving Throes podcast! This week marks the start of my focus on the legendary villain Vecna, in honour of the 50th anniversary of D&D and the imminent release of the official 5e Vecna adventure path. I thought the best way to start off my month-long Vecna focus was to look at how Vecna has appeared in every edition of D&D. Vecna has been a mainstay in the game since it's original incarnation, and the legendary figure has grown and expanded with each subsequent edition of the game. Vecna had a very humble beginning in the 1970's and today is notorious not just as a D&D villain, but as a fearful figure in other media as well, such as in Stranger Things. Who knew Vecna would grow to such wide infamy! Tune in to hear about Vecna's evolution from a simple mysterious artifact to the undying god of secrets, and why he has sparked the imagination of so many over the years.
