Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!
With Easter just around the corner, I thought I would do an episode all about something fun we find in video games beyond just the game itself - the easter egg! These are the little treats and surprises that developers leave for curious players to discover, sometimes years after a game is released! I go over some of the well known easter eggs over the years as well as some of the lesser known ones. From simple humorous moments or hints of a sequel, easter eggs are always a treat to discover! I also wanted to talk about something else that reminds of Easter, but isn't always such a positive note in games - the scavenger hunt! Sometimes utilized well, and other times, used as a vehicle to pad out a game's content, the scavenger hunt can be a double edged sword. Tune in to find out what games do it well and what ones feel like a chore.
